Waro Kishi
Born in Yokohama, Japan, 1950; graduated from Department of Architecture, Kyoto University, 1975; completed post-graduate course of Architecture, Kyoto University, 1978; established Waro Kishi + K.Associates/Architects, 1981; received The JIA(Japan Institute of Architects) Award for the best young architect of the year, 1993; received The Prize of Architectural Institute of Japan for Design, 1996; received Commendation of the Jury of Dedalo Minosse International Prize, 2006; received Gold Award, 16th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards, 2008; taught architectural design in Kyoto Institute of Technology, 1993-2010; Visiting professor, University of California, Berkeley, 2003; Visiting professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, 2004; professor, Kyoto University, 2010-2016; professor, Kyoto University of Art and Design, 2016-present Founded in Kyoto in 1981 as “Waro Kishi Architects” and re-organized as “K.ASSOCIATES/ Architects” in 1992, our office has been a highly accomplished and professionally recognized practice for nearly 25 years. K.ASSOCIATES/Architects’ broad range of projects includes gallery and showroom spaces, higher education and academic buildings, public bridges, private houses, a sports complex, art installations, and furniture. Our prior experience working abroad includes locations such as Italy, Spain, France, and China. K.ASSOCIATES/Architects has been the recipient of numerous awards in Japan as well as abroad.
